In the future, the paper system will be replaced by Agri-Food Knowledge Solutions' new Web-based and wireless systems so that producers can more easily keep track of the herd, saving time and money.

The greatest advantage
in making use of ultrasound is knowing objectively and inexpensively
the carcass merit of an animal before
purchasing or making management decisions. Ultrasound can be used
on an animal to rank it for carcass traits – backfat, rib-eye
area and marbling. Before ultrasound, progeny testing was used
to determine carcass merit of an animal, which took time and money.
Using ultrasound, we can assess the carcass merit of an animal,
before it is selected for breeding. |
